6 Affirmations To Rest Your Creative Mind

I was stealing the benefits of rest and happiness of today for the worries of tomorrow. Essentially shorting myself of true rest that would allow me to continue forward in a healthy way.

Rest for creatives

Where are my fellow creatives that have trouble turning the switch in your mind from the productivity/hustle mindset to the mindset of rest and space for yourself? This is something I have always struggled with and I know that many other people do too. Being a creative and aspiring entrepreneur, I sometimes feel that allowing time to myself or even time spent enjoying my life will put me behind the curve. That I could’ve reached XYZ if I would’ve just worked a little harder. But we know this isn’t true.

stealing from today for tomorrow’s worry

We know that rest is crucial for our mental health. Constantly being on “go” can eventually make you burn out. Rest is necessary for the creative process. For us to be able to nourish our mind, body, and energy so that we can, in fact, reach our goals in ways we wouldn’t have been able to without it. Even though it might not feel like it, we don’t have to spend every waking moment pushing ourselves towards our goals. Give yourself permission right now to take a deep breath, and let the stress and worry fall from your shoulders. Did you do it? Ok good! Normally, if I allowed myself to rest, in whatever way that manifested itself (think vacations, time spent with friends, watching tv, or even taking a nap) – my mind would still be on what I wasn’t getting done. That was until I had an epiphany. I was stealing the benefits of rest and happiness of today for the worries of tomorrow. Essentially shorting myself of true rest that was essential for me to continue forward in a healthy way. I wrote a few affirmations that help me to rest and renew my creative spirit for the next time I decide to flip that switch back to work mode – and I hope they help you as well.
